Many people wonder if it is safe to drink protein shakes on the HCG diet. It is safe, as long as you buy HCG diet-approved protein powder. That means it should not contain sugar or too many carbs. In fact, any good protein shake will be high in protein but low in carbohydrates.
Do not make a habit of replacing both of your daily recommended allotments of protein with the protein shake during phase 2. It is still recommended that you eat one serving of HCG diet approved protein (chicken, grass-fed beef, etc.) per day.
Some people don’t think that protein shakes are a good idea to consume while on the HCG diet. We understand that people have very busy lives and don’t always have time to prepare every meal. However, consider making a double or quadruple batch of a recipe the next time you are cooking. That way, you can have half or 1/4 then, and eat the rest the next time you’re pressed for time.
