When you begin the HCG diet, you realize there are many foods you cannot eat while on the HCG drops. Foods like starches, sugars, and fats are obviously out. This can be difficult, but the HCG diet will not be effective unless you stick to it. Your weight loss is the first step to a healthier and more active lifestyle. It’s important to remember that, while you are allowed to season your food, many seasoning mixes contain sugar. That’s why it’s always a good idea to read the labels of anything you put on your food. A good rule to live by, even after you finish the HCG diet, is that if you can’t pronounce a word listed in the ingredients, it’s probably not something you should put in your body.
Most importantly, though, while you’re on the HCG diet, you must stay away from oils, which means that when you are cooking anything on the stove, you must not cook it in oil, or even cooking spray, as that contains oil. Cooking meats and vegetables on the stove in a small amount of chicken broth is a good way to impart flavor and leave out fat.
Many fruits are also not good to eat on the HCG diet because of their high sugar content. We recommend that you stick with apples and maybe the occasional strawberry only while you are on the HCG diet drops.
